About Futures

What Are Wine Futures?

Wine futures, also known as en-primeur, allow you to purchase some of the most sought-after Bordeaux wines 1-2 years before they are bottled and released. You buy the wine while it's still aging in the barrel, and the Chateau takes care of maturing it for you until it's ready for release a year or two later.

What are the benefits of buying wine futures?

You don’t have to be a wine expert to enjoy the benefits of buying wine futures, where you purchase wine before it's bottled and released. The primary advantage is cost; the price for futures is typically lower than the market price at release. This approach also ensures access to highly sought-after wines that might be hard to find later, available in formats ranging from half bottles to Nebuchadnezzars. When you order wine futures from Wine World Reserve, you’re assured of receiving wines in excellent condition and, when available, in their original wooden cases. Additionally, futures are often bought for special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, or milestone celebrations like graduations or retirements, making them ideal gifts for marking significant moments with a unique and memorable wine.

What Is The En Primeur Campaign?

Following En primeur or Futures week, which takes place annually in late spring after the harvest, wine prices can be released at any moment. The timing of these releases is unpredictable, so staying vigilant is crucial! Typically, a campaign that begins in mid-April might wrap up by mid-July, although this can vary depending on the vintage. The campaign officially ends once each estate has announced its prices.

When Are Futures Wines Shipped To The United States?

When you buy wines as Futures, their arrival in the United States can vary and isn't guaranteed on a specific date. Generally, delivery occurs about two years after the wine has been released, usually between February and December. The timing can differ based on when the Chateau bottles the wine and the format you order; typically, larger formats are bottled later than smaller ones.

Once we have received the wine in our warehouse, we will contact you to confirm your shipping address and schedule delivery, as well as resolve any applicable tariffs and/or sales tax that we may be required by law to collect. Wines may also be transferred to 30A Wine Storage at no additional charge.

What are the risks of buying futures wine?

When buying from Wine World Reserve, like any significant investment, there are risks associated with purchasing wine futures, though they are quite minimal, particularly through Wine World Reserve. Established in 2000, we have a long standing relationship with many Bordeaux négociants, and we never sell more wine than we own/have incoming. One major benefit of buying wine futures is that typically futures prices are lower than eventually release prices when the wine lands with distributors 2 years later.

Payment, Shipping, and Taxes

When is payment due for a futures wine purchase? What do I do about sales taxes and shipping?

Upon placing a Bordeaux Futures order, your credit card will be charged for the wine only. Prices do not include any U.S. import tariffs (currently zero) that may be in effect at the time of shipment and due upon arrival. No additional fees will be added to your order.

Where do you ship?

Wine World Store locations can ship your wine directly to 14 States (FL, DC, ID, MI, NE, NJ, NV, NH, NM, ND, OR, VA, WV, WY). Additionally, we can transfer your wine at no additional cost to 30A Wine Storage. From 30A Wine Storage, you can choose to store your wine or you can ship your own wine to yourself in any State (except Utah). Please contact us for additional details and questions.

What are my delivery options?

Once the wine arrives, you have 3 options.

1) Wine World can ship it directly to you (if you live in FL, DC, ID, MI, NE, NJ, NV, NH, NM, ND, OR, VA, WV, WY.)

2) Wine World can transfer it to 30A Wine Storage at no additional cost for short term storage, and then ship your own wine to yourself (available to every state except Utah).

3) Wine World can transfer it to 30A Wine Storage at no additional cost for long term storage.

What is the cost of delivery?

We offer local pickup as well as ship to 49 states. Pick-up at the Shop is free. Please choose "In-Store Pick Up" at checkout or email us if you need to scheudle a pick-up. The shop is located at 4010 Commons Drive W. Suite 112, Destin Florida.

We offer shipping to 49 states (except Utah), and we offer Ground, 2-Day, and Overnight shipping that's calculated based on your shipping address at checkout.

We do not add any additional fees on top of the direct shipping cost we pay and the cost of the packing materials to safely ship wine.

Wine Storage

Do you offer wine storage?

We partner directly with 30A Wine Storage located in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, near the intersection of US-98 and 331. To learn more about storage services visit them online at www.30AWineStorage.com or email us.

How much does wine storage cost?

30A Wine Storage charges will vary based upon storage needs. Prices start at $5 per box per month for house storage up to $229/month for a private 5x5 walk-in cellar

How do I get my wine from wine storage when I want it?

You'll submit a pull request to our partners at 30A Wine Storage.

Is the storage facility temperature controlled?

30A Wine Storage is temperature and humidity controlled along with backup power and 24/7 security monitoring.

My Order

What does it mean if a wine is in stock?

If a wine is listed as "in stock," it will be ready to ship within our order processing time of 3-5 days.

I need to change or cancel my order. What should I do?

Please reach out immediately via info@wineworldreserve.com. By law, we cannot accept returns of wines that have already shipped, so it's imperitive to reach out ASAP. Wines that are special order or by request cannot be canceled or returned.
